Illegal bets are expected in the Asian Cup
Betting on the main sport events is illegal in the most part of Asia, but it’s difficult to control therefore the police is preparing for the Asian Cup finals.
In 2005 some of betters were jailed for 30 months for the illegal online gambling.
The police said that the peak of illegal betting will be in the next month of the Asian Cup, the most part of them will be processed via the Internet. The police refused to tell about their anti-gambling plans. The China tried to reveal illegal online gambling in the National Super league by setting up a special group from all regions, but they didn’t solve their problem.
Thailand like China includes a lot of fans of online gambling although it’s prohibited. Economic researches estimated that Thais bets were about $1 billion in the last year World Cup.
Vietnam considers online gambling as “social evilâ€, but it’s very popular and widespread there.
Online bets reach up to $50,000 in the Vietnam’s Leagues and in the championships of Germany, Italy, Spain, Britain and other countries in Europe.
Illegal bets are expected in the Asian Cup.
But in this season each country will control its own region as Ibrahim Saad, the general secretary of Football Association in Malaysia, said.
“We take care of our own turf,” Ibrahim said.
