France is going to legalize online gambling
The European Commission asked French government to modify its draft law on online gambling. French law prohibited all foreign online gaming activities on French market, and EU said that the draft law violated article 49 of the EU treaty about the free provision of services. So French government would have to modify its law until August,24. And now France is preparing to bow to pressure from Brussels and agree to a partial liberalisation of its state-run betting monopolies. Paris informed that it was willing to legalize online gambling.
The French market would give large companies such as Sportingbet a toehold in the €25 billion (£17.4 billion) annual Gallic gambling market.
