PURPLE LOUNGE POKER TOUR FINAL STORMS STOCKHOLM

PURPLE LOUNGE POKER TOUR FINAL STORMS STOCKHOLM

On a crisp October morning, Purple Lounge poker arrived in Stockholm for the culmination of eight online qualifiers, eight live tournaments, many wins but many more losses, and a summer of poker excitement to finish it all off in the great city of Stockholm.

In a bid to ensure the poker was uninterrupted by unwanted attention from poker party poopers, players were taken to a more secluded destination for the tournament and the evening got off to a good start with a total of 30 players in the field.

The players were aiming for the top prize of a week-long trip for two to Macau, gambling-haven of the East. And although the tournament retained a relaxed Purple Lounge atmosphere, there was no doubt that everyone was out to win.

Battle of the Sexes winner, Shaun Williams was one of the first out of the tournament, however he was happy to enjoy the rest of the evening watching the competition and pick up tips from some of the Scandinavian players.

After two and half hours of play, the tournament was whittled down the final table. First to leave the table was Andreas Johnson in ninth place, followed by Bo Sehlstedt - one of Sweden’s most highly-respected players, in eighth place. After this Andre Sjodal was knocked out in seventh place and in sixth was Daniel Nilsson.

In the top five we had Robin Ylitalo, Kennth Lundh, Jimmy Sundell, Rune Bjerregaard from Denmark and Conny Olsen. Conny was knocked out in fifth place and walked away with a compact PSP games console.

Rune came in at fourth place, leaving the tournament with the very latest Sony Cybershot camera. He had no choice but to push with J4 and ran into Robin with Q8. He had live cards but the Q came. The J of course popped out to rub salt in the wounds on the River:

Rune: J4
Robin: Q8
Flop: QK3
Turn: J
River: A

Jimmy was the next to go in third. His reward was the recently launched ultra-slim Samsung mobile - the G600. Jimmy was really unfortunate with a couple of hands which took most his stack and ended up in the same situation as Rune. He pushed in with JQ, ran into an Ace and the Ace hit.

Jimmy: JQ
Kenneth: A2
Flop: A92
Turn: 3
River: 10

Our last two players Robin and Kenneth, battled for a while and ended up in a typical chase. Low pair versus 2 over cards and on this occasion, the pair prevailed.

Robin: 33
Kenneth: Q10
Flop: 864
Turn: 4
River: 7

Kenneth won the uber-cool Apple iTouch for his second place and Robin walked away with the main prize of the trip to Macau. Players left the tournament to party the rest of the night away with the tall, leggy, blonde and brunette Swedish girls of Moore magazine at Stockholm’s top nightclub - Sturecompagniet. Purple Lounge sponsored the party, and following a tough evening of poker, it seemed just the remedy for some to forget their loss at the poker table!

A Purple Lounge spokesperson said “We’re delighted that the tour has been so successful and we’ve had the chance to give many of our online Swedish players, their first chance to play live. Congratulations to Robin on his win and we look forward to bringing live poker to many more of our players in the near future.”
