Breaking Down the Brackets and How Baseball Can Payoff For You
East Bracket
All of the top seeds in the East made it into the Round of 16. That makes for a very competitive bracket.
North Carolina - BetUS odds 20 to 29 - Under even money, but we might have to take it, as they’re strong in every position. They have toughness, stellar guard play and great coaching - which is perhaps the most important factor in the Tournament. While the lines are going to be high, they’re a solid, solid wager, at almost any odds, to win the East.
Washington State - BetUS odds 10 to 1 - Unfortunately, State just isn’t good enough to get past UNC. Even if they do that, and it would be a miracle, they have to deal with either Louisville or Tennessee, which makes them a difficult wager in a four team race at 10 to 1…
West Bracket
Western Kentucky made its bones in this tournament with an overtime win over Drake, then turned back pesky San Diego, to whom it had almost lost a big second-half lead. The Sun Belt champions certainly deserve to be here. They’re clearly reliant on their guards - who may just be perhaps the best in the Sun Belt, and whose shooting beat Drake at the buzzer.
They clearly rely on their guard play, as San Diego - another guard team - was slowed down considerably. But shutting down UCLA’s lightning-quick guards is quite another story.
At the same time, I recognize several things, namely that UCLA often makes things much more difficult than it should; in fact, they outscored a team in regulation by more than three points only once in their last six conference games…
Midwest Bracket
The Midwest bracket has been an absolute mess for the sports betting community because of the multitude of upsets. The battle of Beasley and Mayo was handedly won by underdog Kansas State when they beat down USC. But then Beasley, the likely number one overall draft pick in this year’s NBA Draft, fell victim to the deft shooting of unassuming Wisconsin.
This division, however, still belongs to Kansas, who finished the regular season at an extremely respectable 33-3, (14-7-1 ATS at home). That solid home record was due, in large part, to their tenth ranked offense which rocked the rim for 81.4 points per game. But it’s their defense, which stymies opponents to 61.4 points per game, which earned them the top seed in the Midwest bracket. Kansas is a scary team right now because they have been cruising through their competition lately. If you’re looking for a team that has all the momentum right now, Kansas is your best bet.
The headlines, however, have been stolen by No.10 Davidson and their speedy guard…
South Bracket
The betting Community moves into overdrive with the beginning of the regional semifinal round matchups and this article will give bettors all of the insight they need in order to make winning wagers on each of the two south regional semifinal matchups, while also providing a quick glimpse at the region’s possible finals showdown.
Memphis (35-1 SU, 15-19-2 ATS, 19-17 O/U) has been ranked in the nation’s top five all season long and held the overall number one ranking for much of the regular season before falling at home to in-state rival Tennessee 66-62 on Feb. 23. They enter their matchup against Michigan State (27-8 SU, 15-14-2 ATS, 16-15 O/U) coming off a convincing 87-63 first-round win over Texas-Arlington and closer-than-expected 77-74 second-round victory over eighth-seeded Mississippi State that was a physical test between the two clubs.
Calipari’s boys will see much more of the same physicality when they face Izzo’s squad, who have used an overwhelming, stingy defense to reach this semifinal showdown…
