Final Four
For the first time since the NCAA started seeding College Basketball teams in 1979, the four No. 1 seeds have all made it through to the NCAA Tournament Final Four, which goes Saturday. The Memphis Tigers are favored by 1 point over the UCLA Bruins (6:05 pm ET, CBS) and the North Carolina Tar Heels are a 1?-point favorite against the Kansas Jayhawks (8:45 pm ET, CBS).

The Coolest Game
The 2007-08 NHL regular season wraps this weekend with a number of teams still fighting for playoff positions. The top 16 teams - eight from each conference - start the Stanley Cup Playoffs next Wednesday. Will the Anaheim Ducks repeat as Cup champs, or will their California cousin, the San Jose Sharks, finally live up to their post-season potential?

Make money on The Masters
The most prestigious of the PGA Tour’s four Grand Slam tournaments takes place next week as the 2008 Masters Golf Tournament gets underway in Augusta, Georgia. World No. 1 Tiger Woods seems driven to win it this year, as he has taken the past two weeks off from the PGA Tour to properly prepare. Woods is an overwhelming favorite at -150 moneyline odds. The next closest is Phil Mickelson at +700.

The Pale Preamble
This week do you think the folks at CBS are saying to themselves, “$6-billion for this?”
Let’s just say “March Madness” it wasn’t, and all they can hope for is some Final Four “April Insanity” to make up for what’s already come to pass.
With few compelling stories, and with the only Cinderella left out of the final weekend, this year’s NCAA men’s tournament has been the lowest-rated ever.

Once upon a time, like last year, it seemed as if tons of games were decided in the final few seconds. This year there was, what, one? On Sunday #10 seed Davidson came within a heartbeat of taking out #1 Kansas in the final game of the Elite Eight. That was about it. As for the rest, who can remember? Blowouts are only remembered by the blowouters and the blowoutees.
This year the rest of us have been forced to endure more games over at half time than ever before. A full 34 of the 60 games played in the tournament were decided by 12 or more points. That’s up from 29 last year, 22 in 2006 and 20 in 2005. In three short years blowouts trending from less than 30% of the time to almost 60% is not “Madness”, it’s “Maddening”.

Pick the NCAA Tournament champion at betED
The Final Four gets going Saturday but there’s still time to pick the 2008 NCAA Tournament winner at betED.com.
betED.com is taking wagers on which of the Final Four teams will emerge victorious from March Madness, with the North Carolina Tar Heels the favorite at +200 Moneyline odds, followed by the Memphis Tigers at +250, and the UCLA Bruins and Kansas Jayhawks at +300.

UNC is topping many NCAA Basketball bettors’ lists because of its dominant play throughout the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels destroyed their first three opponents, winning by an average of 30 points per game.

After beating Mount St. Mary’s in the first round, the Tar Heels embarrassed SEC tournament runner-up Arkansas 108-77 in the second round. North Carolina went on to beat the Washington State Cougars 68-47 in the Sweet Sixteen and then beat the Louisville Cardinals, the lone member of the powerful Big East to make it to the Elite Eight, 83-73.

The Jayhawks skipped through the first three rounds almost as easily as the Tar Heels, winning by 24, 19 and 15 points. In the region final, they finally ended the dream season of Davidson, edging the Wildcats 59-57.
