Trouble brewing in Beantown?

NHL marathon continues
There could be some upsets in the 2008 NHL Playoffs, but the two series taking place Thursday are progressing according to the pundits’ predictions. The Pittsburgh Penguins lead their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New York Rangers heading into Game 4 in New York (7 pm ET, VERSUS), as do the Detroit Red Wings in their West semifinal against the Colorado Avalanche (10 pm ET, VERSUS).

Big Brown’s Big Race
Kentucky Derby favorite Big Brown will be trying to accomplish something that hasn’t happened since 1915 (6:30 pm ET, NBC). Big Brown has raced only three times and is aiming to become the first thoroughbred to win the Derby after so few starts since Regret did it 93 years ago. Big Brown and the next favorite, Colonel John, are ranked 1-2 in the final Top 10 list released before the Derby by The Associated Press.

Because I am obsessed with horse racing and Kentucky Derby betting, I’ve been running around like a madman in excitement for the Derby to get started – oh, since the last race on Breeders’ Cup Day. The best thing about the New Year is the fact that two-year old horses become three-year old horses and three-year old horses have a chance to run, and to win, the Kentucky Derby.
