Favre makes Big Apple debut
Brett Favre makes his debut with the New York Jets when they host the Washington Redskins in NFL preseason action on Saturday (7 pm ET, NFL Network). Favre, the former Green Bay Packers’ quarterback and a future Hall of Famer, was traded by the Packers to the Jets last week after coming out of retirement.

The Chicago Cubs and Florida Marlins open a three-game set in Miami on Friday (7:10 pm ET). The Cubs will start righthander Carlos Zambrano, who is 12-5 with a 3.22 ERA. The Marlins will counter with Josh Johnson. The righthander is 3-0 with a 3.19 ERA.
