Titan Poker Prodigy Wins 106,000 Euros and 2nd Prize at Irish Winter Festival

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Twenty-five-year old Chris Woods, from Hartlepool in northeast England, took second place and a 106,000 Euro cash prize when he represented online poker room Titan Poker at the just concluded Irish Winter Festival tournament in Dublin.

Woods, who signed up for online poker tutorial lessons at PokerProfessor in August, has never deposited cash in his Titan Poker account. Just four days after receiving a $50 PokerProfessor quiz bonus, Woods invested $27.50 into a winning performance at an Irish Winter Festival qualifier satellite. That same day he won an Irish Winter Festival Super Satellite tournament and a $4,500 prize package, which sent him on his way to Dublin on behalf of Titan Poker.

I also used my big stack well against the smaller stacks when in position, forcing the pressure on them for the rest of the tournament.
“I avoided tangling with the other big stacks unless I felt I was drawing to the nuts or had the nuts,” Woods said, after his impressive Irish Winter tournament finish. “I also used my big stack well against the smaller stacks when in position, forcing the pressure on them for the rest of the tournament.”

The Irish Winter Festival was won by Irish poker player Fiachra Meere. Woods, in his stunning second place finish, outlasted a whole range of poker professionals including Andy Black, Marty Smyth, Neil Channing and Ciaran O’Leary.

Woods was just one of fifteen Titan Poker players playing at the prestigious Irish poker tournament. Titan Poker regularly rewards its players with massive cash prizes and seats to huge land-based poker events, such as the Aussie Millions and the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. It awards more than $16 million in monthly prizes and will stage the third European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) for fourteen days this November, with $4.15 in guaranteed prize money over 14 days of online poker tournaments.

The Princely Sum of $26,097 was Scooped by ‘princessaces’ from West Lothian in Last Night’s Ladbrokes Poker LEOCOP IV Festival

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Ladbrokes Poker LEOCOP IV event three ‘DADDY 1′ was won after eight and a half hours of play by ‘princessaces’ from West Lothian who scoops the princely sum of $26,097. Two hundred and eighty three had signed up to play, so the final table which was arrived at after 7 hours of play meant that the ten players had out-lasted 273 players. The last ten enjoyed significant cashes and notched up some very important points for the LEOCOP leaderboard.

The initial exits were quick, first to leave was ‘stoaner’ who won $1,660.75 after his A9 unsuited was beaten by an AJ, he was swiftly followed by ‘eddiyates’ after his set of 6s proved to be rubbish against a set of 7s. The biggest pot of the table saw two players exit simultaneously and established a new chip leader ‘Simes’. ‘Simes’ went on to knock out three further players including former chip leader ‘TraXxX’ who eventually went out in sixth when his pocket Qs were beaten by ‘Simes’ A9 which made a full house. ‘princessaces’ played trip 9s to perfection to secure her place in heads up against ‘Simes’ after eight and half hours of play. Some great poker play ensued and finally princessaces two pair banished ‘Simes’ to second place and a cash of $16,607.50.

Edward Ihre Managing Director of Ladbrokes Poker chuckled: “This particular tournament is a firm favourite with Ladbrokes regulars. ‘princessaces’ really showed the other players who the Daddy was last night. In addition to the LEOCOP triumph, ‘princessaces’ has won over $40,000 since January of this year. Her win guarantees her a place in our online poker tournament the Masters Event on November 22nd, where a Poker Million VII semi final seat awaits the winner. We’re running a DADDY 2 next week with the same Buy-In ($300+ $30) and added money as last night.”

He continued: “The win is a brilliant precursor to today’s schedule which includes the Ladies Championship tournament with $2,500 added which starts at 20.00 GMT. I suspect that this tournament will be one of the toughest in the schedule as it is likely to have a number of the ladies from this years ELC playing it.”

The $94,900 prize pool for LEOCOP Event 3 the DADDY 1 was paid down to 33, the player who placed 33rd received $664.30. There is also a ‘Beat The Team’ tournament tonight that begins at 19.00 GMT on Ladbrokespoker.com. ‘The Beat The Team’ consists of Ladbrokes poker pros, darts pros Colin Lloyd and John Part and MD of Ladbrokes Edward Ihre.

Important News from DoylesRoom

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

DoylesRoom have received notice from its poker software provider that as of Wednesday, October 29th, they will begin blocking connections from 13 U.S. states based on IP address.

If your internet service provider is based in one of the following 13 states, you may or may not be affected by this change:
Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin, Washington and Kentucky.

Blocked connections will receive an error message upon attempting to login to the poker client. Please read the Common Concerns below and if you feel your connection to the poker client is being blocked in error, please contact customer service immediately at support@dbpn.com so that we may assist you in logging into your account.

Common Concerns:
• 1. I am not in one of the states above will there be any difference in my connecting to the poker client?
No, your account will not be affected.
• 2. What is an IP address? An IP address is assigned to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). All users of the internet are assigned an IP address. This address can be used to roughly determine the geographic location of your ISP. The address returned from a lookup of your IP address is actually the address of your ISP rather than your physical address. This discrepancy may cause some players that are not from a blocked state to appear as though they are from a blocked state.
• 3. I am not attempting to connect from one of the 13 states above, but I am still having problems logging into the poker client. What should I do? DoylesRoom apologize for this inconvenience. State lookups based on your IP address are not always accurate. Please send an email to support@dbpn.com with your login name and a brief description of your problem.
• 4. I am not from one of the 13 states but I am traveling to one of them. Will I be able to connect? There is a chance that you will not be able to connect if you are travelling to one of the 13 states listed above. Please contact support@dbpn.com if you are traveling through one of the states and are having a problem logging into your account.
They sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes you and urge you to contact their 24 hour support services if you have any further questions.

Bodog Casino Player Makes Change of a Lifetime

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Kelly J. of Calif. made the decision of a lifetime when she opted to switch up her routine, giving Bodog Casino‘s Caribbean Stud a go instead of her usual game, Let ‘Em Ride. Just three hands into her first round of Caribbean Stud she struck gold, and lots of it. Opting to throw an extra dollar into the mix for a shot at the progressive jackpot turned out to be the best investment she has ever made as she watched in total disbelief as she was dealt the mother of all hands, a Royal Flush. Even though the dealer didn’t qualify, that extra dollar qualified her for the progressive jackpot, which won her a whopping $141,000!

Bodog Beat had a chance to chat with Kelly and it was clear she was not only elated, but still in complete shock. “I just couldn’t believe it until I woke up the next morning and Bodog called me. And then it was like, oh wow, that really happened. I was in just absolute utter shock.” The big win couldn’t have come at a better time for Kelly, who said, “I feel blessed. It’s one of those things that happens to you and it really changes your life in the most profound way. You know, there were certain things that I wanted to take care of but couldn’t and then suddenly this happens and it really… it really changed my life.” Kelly also has plans to put the money to good use. “I’m going to pay some bills and I’ve got a sick friend and they were needing some money and I wasn’t able to come up with it and all of a sudden I feel like I can help them.” The Bodog Casino veteran added, “I play at various different online casinos and when it happened I remember thinking, ‘Thank God it was Bodog.’ Because it’s the only one I feel like, yeah they’re definitely going to pay this out. It’s not like they are all of a sudden going to be gone tomorrow. And I’ve got friends who gamble online and I told them, ‘You’ve got to stop doing anything except with Bodog because you can trust them.’”

Joining Kelly in the winners circle is a veritable army of recent Bodog Casino winners: Zachary M. hit a massive $159,000 Let ‘Em Ride progressive jackpot in Sept., Adrian P. – one of Bodog Casino’s all time biggest winners – added another $28,960 in Jacks or Better to his previous staggering video poker score of over $1 mil., Ryan F. took down $19,943 in Blackjack, Keith S. cashed in a $21,549 win in Red Sands video slots, Clint H. racked up $22,502 playing Blackjack and Craps and many others struck pay dirt in the Bodog Casino.
