Everest Poker Qualifier Nico Behling Storms Into Poland With 2nd Place Showing at EPT Warsaw

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Congratulations are in order today for Nico Behling, the 23-year-old Everest Poker qualifier from Germany, who has finished 2nd at the Pokerstars EPT in Warsaw. The youthful poker phenom beat out a commanding field of over 217 poker players who attended the coveted tournament this past week.

Behling takes more than $400,000 back to Germany, but the sizeable purse is nothing new for this poker pro. Behling also qualified for the EPT Barcelona two years ago — again via Everest Poker.

If someone would have told me before the tournament that I would finish 2nd, I would have signed up for that immediately — now, of course, I am a little disappointed that the trophy was so close!

Everest Poker players on the whole are tearing up the EPT circuit. Sponsored player Cristiano Blanco managed a 2nd place at an EPT event in Dortmund in 2007, which to date remains the best placing ever for an Italian player at an EPT event.

At EPT Warsaw, Italian Dario Minieri was blocked from matching Blanco’s top finish by Behling. Minieri finished 3rd.

Speaking to Everest Poker’s Olaf Schimpf, who was with the German throughout the tournament, Behling commented, “If someone would have told me before the tournament that I would finish 2nd, I would have signed up for that immediately — now, of course, I am a little disappointed that the trophy was so close!”

In a message to other Everest Poker players, he said: “You have to work on your game, study the theoretical part of poker in the beginning and always believe in yourself…and don’t let short term luck or bad beats disturb you!”

Three Final Table Players in Two Days Prove Great Poker Teams are Developed, Not Bought

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Everest Poker‘s own Stefanie Bergener from Germany, and Maria Maceiras from Spain, made the final table of the Women’s World Open II in London yesterday. Team Everest Poker‘s only two representatives in the $108,000 tournament made the top three.

Maria finished 3rd taking home $15,000 with Stefanie finishing 2nd taking home $22,000.

Maceiras has been a part of the Everest Poker Team since 2007 and has quickly become a poker winning machine over the past two years. She was the first women to win two legs of the Spanish Championship, establishing herself not only as a top female poker player, but as one of the best in Spain.

Stefanie earned her spot on the Everest Poker team by winning their Live the Dream promotion and a $100,000 contract with Everest Poker just six months ago.

The Everest Poker Team saw even more success at the Italian Championships this weekend where their own Cristiano Blanco made it to the final table of the €220,000 tournament placing 5th taking home €22,000.

All three players learned and developed their game on Everest Poker. They are testament to the Everest Poker company philosophy that great teams are developed, not bought.

There can be no doubt that Everest Poker believes in their players. Everest Poker does not sponsor professional players, invests in real players to become professionals and succeed on the world stage in much the same way as many football clubs now look to nurture talent within their own academies.

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

As the dawn of a new PokerStars.com European Poker Tour begins, the Everest Poker Team is now ‘living their dream’ as they approach the halfway mark of their year-long quest to become poker professionals.

With four of the eleven team members cashing at the world’s biggest tournament, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in July, the Everest Poker Team is already a respected force throughout the world, and have every reason to be confident going into the new EPT season.

Eleven team members were chosen from a pool of 200 Everest Poker players. They were selected based on their performances at the “Live the Dream” event in Vienna (April 2008), which included poker tournaments, interviews, blogging and showcasing their personalities for a panel of poke pro judges and Everest Poker staff members.

At the WSOP, Live the Dream winner and Finnish rocker, Voitto Rintala, walked away from the final table of Event 52 with $57,000; while Japan’s Kim Wooka left the Main Event with $23,160. Dutch team members Steven van Zadelhoff and Daan Slutter finished their run at the WSOP with totals of $12,814 and $23,160, respectively.

Last week, in the first event of the new EPT season in Barcelona, the team was represented by Spanish players Pablo Ubierna and Maria Maceiras, along with Simone Coppari, Leroy Soesman, Stefanie Bergener, Cristiano Blanco, Otto Richard and Voitto Rintala.

The ever consistent Maceiras finished the tournament, and was the highest ranked woman of EPT Barcelona with €17,300 in winnings. Rintala also proved his poker credentials were legit by cashing out in 17th place, earning €24,700.

London is the next stop on the EPT circuit where you can see Pablo, Voitto and Romain Despres compete for a £2 million prize pool. Daan Slutter, Steven van Zadelhoff and Kim Wooka make the trip across the pond to participate in World Poker Tour Niagara Falls tournament.
