Reimer Koester, a talented poker player from Germany, claimed second place and $27,500 in cash at the $250,000 Guaranteed Prize tournament on Sunday the 3rd of August. The skilled player had signed up at Titan Poker, the largest poker room on the iPoker Network, just four days previously on the 31st of July 2008.
After four days as a Titan Poker player, he opted for the popular poker room’s weekly $250,000 Guaranteed to be his first online tournament – and astounded everybody when he finished second place and won $27,500. The Titan Poker newcomer competed against nearly 2,000 players in this tournament for seven and a half hours, and was even leading with 4H KD as it got to the last hand. Unfortunately for Reimer, an unlucky turn on the flop ensured a pair of Sixes and victory for a rival player and second place for him.
However, he is understandably delighted with his extraordinary early success and is confident that this isn’t a case of ‘beginners luck’.
He said: “I’m very happy that I did well in my very first tournament at Titan Poker. The tournament went smoothly and was a lot of fun – from the very start I managed to play well. Next time I’ll try for first place!!”
