Manchester United v Chelsea

Friday, January 9th, 2009

There’s an enthralling clash between the Premier League’s two biggest clubs on Sunday afternoon, and as always Sportingbet has loads of markets available. From 1st Goalscorer to Method of 1st Goal, you’re sure to find the bet you’re looking for.

So who’s your fancy to come out on top after 90 minutes?

In a season of below par performances at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have put together an away record to rival any team in Europe. With 8 wins on the road, 23 goals scored and just 3 conceded, Phil Scolari’s men have more than made up for their lesser home form. Will the visitors grab all 3 points and put themselves in pole position for the title or will they end the day 1 point ahead of their rivals but having played 2 more games? If you have any doubt, the draw at 21/10 looks the best option.

Match Prices

Home Draw Away

11/10 21/10 23/10

Don’t fancy picking the end result? Then how about predicting whether it will be a high or low scoring game? If you want to be even more specific – bet on what the half-time score will be!
If you think Chelsea will score the first goal, then it’s 13/10, or you’ve got a horrible feeling we might be in for a bore draw then 0-0 is 8/1! If you’re looking for bigger prices then some of the more quirky markets available include ‘Own Goal as 1st Goal of game’ at 9/1 and Man Utd – Chelsea HT-FT at 50/1!

90 Minutes – Over/Under Goals Half-time – Over/Under Goals

Over 1.5 Under 1.5 Over 0.5 Under 0.5

7/20 39/20 2/5 13/8

Over 2.5 Under 2.5 Over 1.5 Under 1.5

6/5 3/5 23/10 2/7

Over 3.5 Under 3.5

100/30 9/50

Of course you can find all your old favourites too. First Goalscorer, Correct Score, Scorecast, HT-FT plus loads more. In what could be Ryan Giggs’ last Old Trafford showdown with the Blues, can he hit the net first at 14/1? If, however, you don’t believe in fairytales, maybe Cristiano Ronaldo at 11/2 is a safer bet.

First Goalscorer

Manchester Utd Chelsea

Cristiano Ronaldo 11/2 Didier Drogba 6/1

Wayne Rooney 6/1 Nicolas Anelka 15/2

Carlos Tevez 7/1 Frank Lampard 8/1

Whatever decisions you make on Sunday’s game, make them with Sportingbet.

KAUTO NO STAR FOR SPORTINGBET!

Thursday, November 27th, 2008
Sportingbet Sportsbook

Sportingbet’s generous offer to refund all fallers at Haydock and Ascot on Saturday ended with a worst case scenario for the online bookie as punters favourite Kauto Star and Sam Thomas parted company at the last fence in the Betfair Lancashire Chase.

Sportingbet’s UK Promotions manager Chris Graham said ‘Kauto is probably the most popular horse in training, and at such a short price, it was definitely one we didn’t want to be refunding. To be fair to Sam Thomas and the horse it was more of a slip than a fall but we’ll be refunding anyway. It won’t stop us offering attractive promotions in the future.”

In the last month Sportingbet have refunded bets on more than 50 fallers at the weekend meetings from Wincanton, Sandown, Ascot, Wetherby and all 3 days of Cheltenham’s Open Meeting. Expensive stuff …………
